Atlanta Symphony Associates announces designers for 2013 Decorators' Show House & Gardens

ATLANTA - The 43rd annual Decorators’ Show House & Gardens at Tuffeau estate is pleased to welcome aboard its 2013 designers. This year, the notable talent will showcase their inventive design ideas while focusing on fresh techniques, creative trends and innovative process.  Open to the public from April 20 – May 12, 2013, Tuffeau is a French-inspired Show House nestled within a West Paces Ferry neighborhood.
 
“This year’s designers represent sophistication, quality and distinction,” said Natalie Miller, the 2013 Show House Chair. “With these qualities, attendees can look forward to an exquisite blend of modern and traditional styles.”

"Driving Miss Daisy" home on the market for $1.95 million

ATLANTA -- Twenty-three years ago, this month, Atlanta was the focus of the Academy Awards when "Driving Miss Daisy" won "Best Picture.

The film was written by Pulitzer prize winning Atlanta playwright Alfred Uhry who grew up in the Druid Hills area.

The story deals with the relationship between an elderly Jewish woman and her African-American chauffeur after World War II.

And as of today, the home from the movie, which forever linked Atlanta to Hollywood is, now, up for sale and it's going to the highest bidder.

To some, the home is as defining as Jessica Tandy & Morgan Freeman and as unforgettable as Alfred Uhry's words.

It's located at 922 Lullwater Road in the Druid Hills neighborhood.

ATLANTA – The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), Southeast Chapter were pleased to announce the winners of the Seventh Annual Shutze Awards at the Shutze-designed Piedmont Driving Club on Feb. 23. The Shutze Awards, named after the renowned architect Phillip Trammell Shutze, recognize excellence in traditional design and spotlight practitioners for their work while educating the general public and professionals about the enduring excellence, appeal and importance of traditional design and those in the community that contribute to its advancement.
 
The 2012 awards jury committee and master of ceremonies awarded 10 victors of various groups at a black-tie event that included a cocktail reception, elegant dinner and the Southeast’s finest design awards ceremony among prominent design practitioners.

ATLANTA -- Lack of self-worth and self-esteem in teens and adolescents is a dangerous epidemic that constitutes as a gateway for many problematic behaviors and actions in their lives such as teen pregnancy STD's, abuse and unhealthy relationships, eating disorders and suicide.  The self esteem of a young girl peaks at the age of 9, and by the age of 12-13, has decreased by more than 56%.

Fulton County Arts and Culture to begin classes

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Registration is soon to open for the Fulton County Department of Arts and Culture's Spring 2013 class sessions. 

Four Arts Centers will offer classes in arts and culture studies, including dance, theatre, painting, drawing, pottery and others, according to Fulton County Government official Jolene Freeman. 

As Freeman reported, registration can be completed online or onsite, beginning February 19 and ending March 19. Classes begin March 19, and run for eight weeks. Youth and adults are welcome to attend.
