ATLANTA -- LittlePINKBook.com, America’s No. 1 digital platform for career women, will host its 9th Annual Fall Empowerment Event on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Top-level female executives will share their experiences with rising through the corporate ranks to an audience of like-minded, successful women motivated to get there.

ATLANTA -- Fulton County Cooperative Extension will offer Affordable Care Act information sessions to assist residents, small businesses and their employees through the new Healthcare Marketplace.

Interested parties are encouraged to register for a free information session that will be led by a University of Georgia (UGA) health navigator assigned to Fulton County to assist with helping individuals and small businesses complete eligibility and enrollment forms during. Residents should call (404) 332-2400 to register for a session.

Health Navigator, housed under UGA Cooperative Extension, are able to help residents decide on the best health insurance to meet their needs and will help them apply—either electronically or by paper—to establish eligibility, enroll in coverage and potentially qualify for an insurance affordability program.

Fulton's Fall SPARC Atlanta Clinics seek to enhance the health and quality of life for older adults

ATLANTA -- Fulton County’s Fall SPARC (Sickness Prevention Achieved through Regional Collaboration) Atlanta preventive healthcare screenings for older adults begin on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Citizens who participate in SPARC Atlanta clinics can take advantage of health screenings, nutrition counseling and health education. Since the initiation of SPARC Atlanta in 2006, more than 7,300 older adults have visited SPARC Clinics to obtain health screenings as well as obtain information regarding Medicare Assistance, employment assistance, Food Stamp Assistance, nutrition education and dental education.

Fulton County Cooperative Extension sponsors free workshop for budding entrepreneurs

ATLANTA -- Have you ever considered starting your own home-based business? Fulton County Cooperative Extension will sponsor a free workshop on Starting a Home-Based Business on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System’s Central Library, 1 Margaret Mitchell Square, Suite 109, Atlanta.

Participants will gain valuable information to help them start and maintain a successful home-based business. Specific topics will include how to identify fraud and scams billed as business opportunities, space and time needs, identifying factors that contribute to success and much more.  

Fulton County Cooperative Extension hosts monthly classes on a variety of topics such as nutrition, financial management, diabetes and gardening. Classes are held in locations throughout the county.  Call 404-332-2400 for more information.

Fulton County Workforce Investment Board Task Forces to host meetings

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- The Fulton County Workforce Preparation and Employment System – Workforce Investment Act Board (FCWPES-WIA) Development and Visibility and Influence Task Force will meet Wednesday, August 28, 2013, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The Task Force  meeting will be followed by a 1:30 p.m. meeting of the Visibility and Influence Taskforce.  Both meetings will be held in the Youth Enrichment Services Center of the Office of Workforce Development at 2805 Metropolitan Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30315. 

The FCWPES-WIA Board oversees activities related to providing an environment that supports a skilled and trained workforce and to creating innovative programs that serve the changing needs of employers and the business community.

Fulton County Family and Teacher Resource Fair offers education and entertainment

ATLANTA -- Children attending the Family and Teacher Resource Fair on Aug. 17 experienced the wonder of handling a 12-foot python.  The colorful yet docile snake was featured during the “Magic Marc” show, which was presented through a sponsorship by WellCare of Georgia. “Magic Marc” was recently a television show in Savannah. 

More than 1,200 people attended the event, which included the participation of 500 teachers. The Family and Teacher Resource Fair offered education, health education, and information about extracurricular program activities for children as well as fun and games for young children through high school students. Parents and their children enjoyed dance presentations, bounce houses, bowling, skating and refreshments during the event at Metro Lanes and Games on Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta.
