Holy Innocents' Golden Bear wrestlers off to strong start
SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- For the second year in a row, varsity wrestlers from Holy Innocents' Episcopal School won the MTXE Tournament at Lassiter Saturday, Dec. 8. Jason Grimes and Owen Penn won individual titles; Brendan Quigley, Grant Chastain and Rod Davis all took second.

Coach Stacey Davis’ Bears also ran their dual meet record to 2-0 Tuesday night at home with a convincing shutout win over Mt. Vernon Presbyterian. Simmons Patrick set the tempo in the Mt. Vernon match, earning his first varsity win at 106 with a pin.

“I was excited to see him improve and get that first win,” Coach Davis said.

The Bears had seven more wins by pins: Owen Penn, William Rasmussen, Grant Chastain, Will Morton, Rod Davis, Jason Grimes and Grant Gosden. Jake Walton won his match by decision and Taylor Addington, Logan Chastain, Blake Barber and Ivano Milano all received wins by forfeits.

HIES' junior varsity wrestlers went 2-2 Saturday in Dacula and were led by Liam Quigley, Chandler Martin, Blake Barber and Joseph Brinkley. Ivano Milo and Patrick also stepped up. The Bears also topped Mt. Vernon Tuesday on wins from Braxton Lindley, Chris Shaw, William Hays and Sam Fisher.

Holy Innocents' wrestlers will be in action again Saturday, Dec. 15, in Madison County, with the action beginning at 8 a.m.
