ATLANTA -- One of two firefighters injured while responding to a two-alarm fire in Buckhead last week is expected to be released from Grady Memorial Hospital Monday.

Spurgeon Putnam was seriously hurt after falling 20 feet from the roof of a building as he worked to put out the flames.

The fire broke out Thursday at around 11 a.m. at the Victoria Apartments in the 3500 block of Roswell Road. At least two units were damaged.

Atlanta Fire spokeswoman Janet Ward said the other injured firefighter, Josh Martinson, suffered minor burns to his shoulders. He was treated and released from Grady Memorial Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Red Cross workers were at the scene late Thursday to help displaced residents.
